Child Admission Policy
Child Admission to the pool.
The purpose of the Child Admission Policy is to safeguard a group of pool users who are most at risk i.e. young children. It is not intended to stop children from having fun and enjoying swimming, nor is it intended to make life difficult for parents/carers. The following is designed to be applied under normal circumstances and may be adjusted to accommodate periods of high bather loads e.g. during Aqua Fun sessions.
- All children under the age of 12 years old must be accompanied in the water at all times during unprogrammed sessions by a responsible adult of at least 18 years of age. We recommend that children over 12 who are weak or non-swimmers be accompanied by an adult.
- All children under the age of 8 years old must be accompanied on an adult supervision ratio of 1 adult to a maximum of 3 children.
- Children who are weak or non-swimmers must wear armbands or other approved buoyancy aids while in the water.
- Weak and non-swimmers should remain within standing depth and remain in designated non-swimmer areas.
Bather Ratio in Operation:
Under 3 years – one adult : one child
4 – 7 years – one adult : three children
8-12 years- one adult: 5 children
12 years+ – allowed to swim on their own
- Children under the age of 12 years need to be accompanied with an adult over 18 years to the swimming pool at all times.
- 12 to 14 years will require an adult to be in the building to supervise them.
- 15 years to 16 years can use the pool at their description.
- Sauna, Steam Room and Jacuzzi is only available to those 16 years and over – Photographic ID may be requested before admission is granted
- If there is a ratio of 1:5 adult to child 7 year old and under, another parent/adult will need to go into the water to make the ratio 2:5.
Admission to the Gym:
- Gym access is only permitted to those 16 year and over – photographic ID may be requested before admission is granted.
